Web Tech Lead

JAM produces online courses for kids about creative skills and careers of the future. JAM seeks a Web Tech Lead to own development of our web products that support kids in their pursuit of new skills.

The Role

  • Contribute as our primary front-end developer
  • Participate at all levels of our web application stack, ranging from back-end technologies (Server-side rendering, networking/caching, build tools, data layer tests) to front-end web interfaces (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, snapshot tests).
  • Assist Engineering Manager to develop sprint priorities and costs.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology, practices and processes to ensure our best chance for achieving our mission and business goals.
  • Serve as primary consultant for web products in requirements process when web products are impacted.
  • Serve as a primary consultant for web products in design process when web products are impacted.
  • Collaborate between team leads, engineers and designers to ship web product releases that meet requirements.
  • Use our in-house analytics to measure effectiveness of our web product initiatives.
  • Proactively pursue candidates for open roles on the Engineering team.
  • Mentor junior engineers as needed to ensure best practices are indeed practiced by everyone and that code quality is held to a high standard.
  • With a strong focus on delivering value and delight to our children and parent stakeholders, you will work closely alongside our design and community team to discover insights.


Requirements:

  • You're comfortable collaborating closely with engineering manager and designers, providing estimates or product ideas that will influence your team’s roadmap.
  • You have a “leave it better than you found it” mentality, and are willing to work with and improve on code you did not originally write.
  • You love to experiment and use data to drive decision-making.
  • You're generous with your time and experience, and can mentor other engineers.
  • You are a a mindful, transparent, and communicative member of your team.
  • You’re always on time and regularly meet or exceed deadlines.
